Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been earned on hardcourt

A comeback Medvedev claimed his first title for over two years with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition title decider.

The athlete, a ex- number one, has endured a torrid period, managing just a single victory at the big events and suffering a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

His varied form on the tennis tour - and issues with his serving in particular - caused him dropping out of the elite rankings and eventually splitting with long-time mentor Cervara.

Now training with Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently improved in the past month - culminating in a closely contested three-set win over opponent Moutet.

It is the player's maiden championship following the Italian tournament and first on a hard surface since spring of that year.

Success also indicates Medvedev has won twenty-one titles at 21 various tournaments.

"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my children together, so to get a trophy is especially meaningful," said tennis professional Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my younger daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I won when my child her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had lost his previous six championship matches, including in that event in the past months.

Medvedev's counter-punching approach and recurring emotional displays on the playing surface had led commentators to wonder if his skill to perform at the top level was concluded.

However the athlete has altered his approach in recent weeks, striving to advance forward and perform positively, reinforced by an improved serve.

The champion fought back from a break down in the first set against the challenging Moutet, winning 4 of the concluding five exchanges to go ahead.

The pair swapped break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, attempting for his initial professional championship, gained dominance to push for a third set.

He defended four early break points in a tight deciding set before the champion secured a break to that score to serve for the match.

Fittingly, the winner clinched the title with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman incapable to handle a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
